Every 12 months you are entitled to ONE FREE copy of your credit report from each of the three nationwide credit reporting agencies – Experian, Equifax, and the TransUnion. You can also get a yearly free copy of any specialty consumer reports. In some instances, you can get free reports more often than once per year.
You must get your report from www.annualcreditreport.com to get the raw data for FICO scores. This is the same site the government sends consumers to for their free annual report. Don’t be deceived by millions of other sites offering “credit reports”. Make sure to read the fine print to see if the scores are generated from FICO or VantageScore.
